Premium Hardwood Lumber in Virginia Beach

I went in about 6 months ago to buy materials for a built-in that I had designed for my office. It was my first time going outside of the Big Box store to get materials. Greg recommended materials and answered all of my “amateur” woodworker questions. The quality of materials was fantastic and the price was still cheaper than the Big Box store. Additionally, his expertise was the most valuable part. I learned a bunch just by bouncing some thoughts off him and he answered with patience. Thanks for taking the time to help me out, Greg.

First time meeting Greg back in January, it was late in evening but he was still willing to walk me through picking the perfect Ambrosia for a mantle project. They were the perfect pieces for this project (see pictures)! Came back to pick out some Cherry wood for a bed project. As before he helped me pick out some stellar pieces! Again, it was the end of his day, yet still made time to put some pieces through his joiner/planner. Thanks Greg for all your help, you have a lifetime customer!

Greg is awesome! My Dad flew up from Florida to do a Father and Son project. Greg made our project a priority and provided expertise and slab flattening for us! I am not sure how many 5 star reviews are needed, but I wanted to say thank-you.

I’ve made the drive to the Cygnus Lumber twice now over closer lumber yards, First was actually on a lark as we also wanted to check out The Meat Shack at the same time. I returned to Cygnus as the “owner” went out of his way to be helpful, and the second time he was just as helpful. It was also cool that his pricing was competitive! Still have not made it to the meat shack when they are open, guess I’ll need to buy some more lumber eh?

What a great place to pick up that otherwise hard to find piece of lumber. I like buying my lumber and plywood from Greg, as he has some great quality wood to choose from. I build both cabinets and furniture and I have bought pine, poplar, red & white oak and cherry from him as well as 3 differant thicknesses of furniture grade birch plywood. I drive right past Home Depot, Lowe’s and a couple of smaller lumber yards on my way to buy from Greg, as his prices are fair and quality is always great. He has a great looking workshop as well with a lot of vintage machinery. Very friendly guy, go see him.
