Our Story
Cygnus Lumber & Millworks was founded to bring a dedicated hardwood resource to the Hampton Roads area, giving local woodworkers a place to hand-select quality material and discuss projects directly with the team. Over time, the business expanded from simply supplying lumber to offering custom millwork and molding, allowing customers to source both boards and finished profiles from the same trusted provider.
To ensure consistency, we source our domestic hardwoods from NHLA-certified mills that adhere to strict grading rules. This commitment to responsible forestry extends to our own operations as well; we actively manage our own acreage under a plan endorsed by the Virginia Tree Farm Foundation, reflecting a personal, long-term dedication to forest health.

- Hardwood Lumber: Hand-select kiln-dried, furniture-grade domestics (Walnut, Cherry, Oak, Maple) and distinct exotics. We source from mills using NHLA grading rules so you can rely on consistent quality.
- Custom Millwork: Whether for a new build or a restoration, we manufacture specific crowns, baseboards, and casings.
